Pototan known as Christmas Capital of Western Visayas. Iwag means light in English. The Iwag festival celebrated annually from the 16th of December until the 3 kings.
History
There have a group of Pototanons organized in 1997 with full support our Mayor, Hon. Manuel "Quedo" P. Parcon. It's became a festival of dazzling light, cultural shows, rides for the kids, food fair and the yearly tradition of lightning up homes with different beautiful Christmas lights. The Department of Tourism declared "Christmas Capital of Western Visayas".
Pototan which is a few kilometers from Iloilo is also known as the biggest rice producer in the whole province. But during Christmas season, people from neighboring towns and cities flock to their town square to witness this impressive display of Christmas lights.
